About The Event

Pegaso University presents the fourth edition of the REN International Conference. This year’s central theme is “Emotions vs Algorithms in Education: Bridging the Gap with the Contribution of Educational Neuroscience.”

The conference, coordinated by Prof. Francesco Peluso Cassese, Director of the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences at Pegaso Digital University, has received the endorsement of the most authoritative Scientific Societies in the pedagogical field: SIRD, SIPES, SIREM, and CIRPED. It will feature the participation of over 200 speakers from 46 prestigious universities located in 14 different countries.

Among the distinguished guests is Prof. Simon Buckingham Shum, Director of the Connected Intelligence Center at the University of Sydney, who will share his insights on the integration of technology in learning processes.

On the second day of the event, the Social Music Orchestra “Musica in Gioco” will perform, offering a unique experience on the national scene. This extraordinary ensemble, composed of young people with special educational needs, has already made a mark with its musical performances, including at the Senate of the Republic.

Developing new reflections that can guide the debate on Emotional Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence and their applications in the educational context transparently and responsibly is crucial. Neuroscientific research in education can provide valuable information and empirical evidence on learning and teaching processes, both in analog and digital environments. However, the gap between emotions and algorithms remains to be bridged.

Integrating emotional intelligence into artificial intelligence systems offers the potential to create more empathetic and effective machines that better meet human needs. Is it necessary to imagine a new educational paradigm that fully addresses the challenges and opportunities offered by these two poles? How can the results of neuroscientific research help bridge the gap between AI and EI?

The REN CONFERENCE aims to provide space and opportunities to reflect on these issues. The debate will focus on rethinking educational and teaching processes in complex multicultural contexts, characterized by diversity and deviance, leveraging the knowledge acquired so far and seizing the opportunities offered by the integration and evolution of neuroscience.
